#bSustainable Bee Profile - Meet Bethany

This month at Kor180 we’re sharing your #bSustainable stories!

I was fortunate enough to sit down with one of our favorite Bees, Bethany Bauman, to hear her story and find out some ways she stays sustainable all around Austin.

  • Where are you from?

I grew up south of Chicago, lived all over the place but Austin is home. I have lived in Austin for 5 years now.

  • What do you do?

I am a graphic designer {find Bethany’s work here}

  • How did you become interested in graphic design?

I was actually studying photography and when we moved into the digital part of it I became interested in graphic design and just fell in love with it.

  • How do you practice sustainability?

I ride my bike {even rode her bike to this interview!}

  • What makes your bike special?

My bike is very special to me and it carries with it a personal story. I re-built this bike on my own using different parts given to me by friends. It healed me through one of the most difficult times in my life.

  • Does your bike have a name?

My bike is called thadious the badious. It even has its own hash tag! #thadiousthebadious

  • Favorite restaurant to ride your bike to?

Oh man that’s a hard one! I really love to go on long bike rides. Omeletree in the morning is one of my favorites and I also love east side king and yellow jacket social club.

  • If you could give a stranger advice on how to become more sustainable what would it be?

It’s all about your lifestyle. When people hear that I ride my bike everywhere they say things like “Ew don’t you get sweaty” and I just have to respond “yeah you do but you get used to it.” Don’t be afraid of change or a challenge.

  • Why did you choose Kor180 as your go-to fitness studio?

I didn’t choose Kor180, Kor180 chose me. My artwork was a part of the #ILoveArt showcase and at that time I needed a change in my work out. I decided to start training here and feel super fortunate to be a part of this amazing community.
