How to cook quinoa

If you follow these steps your quinoa will be light, fluffy & cooked to perfection.

Step 1

Measure out 1 part organic quinoa and 1 part water. Here I'm using a cup of each.

1 cup of dry quinoa = 1.5 cups of cooked quinoa

Step 2

Quinoa has a bitter-tasting coating on each seed that protects it from being eaten in the field. This is called saponin and must be removed before it is cooked and eaten. Simply rinse it really well under the faucet.

Step 3

Add the quinoa & water into a saucepan

Step 4

Cover & cook on medium heat for 8-10 minutes or until all of the water has absorbed. Then turn the heat off & let it sit covered for 5 minutes.

Step 5

Fluff the quinoa with a fork & get ready, because the options are endless!

At this point you could simply add in some chopped avocado, salt & pepper for a dynamite breakfast.

or

throw in some chopped tomato, basil & mozzarella for a play on the traditional caprese salad!

mix in some shredded beets, shredded carrots, some ground flax seed, an egg & your favorite herbs to make the base to a bomb veggie burger!
